About Chelora Dyes

Built for people who can't afford a shade that drifts

We supply the pigment intermediates, amine intermediates and process chemicals behind dyes, pigments, inks and coatings, to the dye houses, pigment makers, formulators and plastics processors who need the same material lot after lot, delivered on their schedule.

Colour is unforgiving. A small shift in the purity or moisture of an intermediate can move a shade, slow a coupling reaction or change how a pigment disperses. That is why every product we supply is tested in-house before dispatch, and why each shipment travels with its documentation.

The range

Our product families

Organised the way colour is made: pigment intermediates, amine intermediates, the benzenes and nitro compounds they start from, and the process chemicals that drive each step.

How it fits together

From benzene ring to finished colour

Almost every product we supply sits somewhere on this route. Knowing where an intermediate fits helps you judge which specification matters most for your process.

  1. Aromatic starting material

Benzene derivatives such as Nitrobenzene and Mono Chlorobenzene carry the ring that will eventually hold the colour.

  2. Substitution

Nitration, chlorination and sulfonation add the groups that set shade and solubility — Oleum and Chlorosulfonic Acid do the sulfonating.

  3. Reduction to an amine

Nitro groups are reduced to amines — nitrotoluenes become toluidines, nitrochlorobenzenes become chloroanilines.

  4. Diazotisation

The amine becomes a diazonium salt. Weakly basic amines are diazotised in Nitrosylsulfuric Acid.

  5. Coupling & finishing

The diazonium salt couples with a partner to form an azo dye or pigment, then is isolated and finished.

Terms buyers and chemists use

6 terms
Diazo component
The aromatic amine that is diazotised; it largely sets the shade family.
Coupling component
The electron-rich partner the diazonium salt reacts with.
Diazotisation
Reacting a primary aromatic amine with a nitrous-acid source, usually cold, to form a diazonium salt.
Sulfonation
Adding sulfonic acid groups to the ring, which makes many dyes water-soluble.
Alkylation
Adding methyl or ethyl groups, including the quaternisation step in cationic dye making.
Batch consistency
Keeping purity, moisture and impurity profile inside a tight window from lot to lot.
Who we supply

Industries we supply

The intermediates we supply end up in fabric, packaging inks, wall paints and moulded parts. Here's where each part of the range does its work.

Printing inks

Red and yellow ink pigments depend on diazo components with tight purity.

Relevant: 4B Acid, 2B Acid

Paints & coatings

Organic pigments need consistent shade and strength, run after run.

Relevant: Fast Bordeaux GP Base

Plastics & masterbatch

Pigments for plastics have to disperse cleanly and hold shade through processing.

Relevant: 2B Acid, Ortho Tolidine Base

Dye & pigment manufacturers

Intermediates and diazotising/sulfonating agents for colour makers running their own synthesis.

Relevant: Nitrosylsulfuric Acid

Specialty chemical synthesis

Nitro compounds and alkylating agents for optical brighteners and fine-chemical routes.

Relevant: Dimethyl Sulfate

Quality

Tested in-house, documented in full

Batch-consistent colour does not happen by accident. Every lot of every product is tested in-house against its specification before dispatch, and the results travel with the shipment — fewer surprises at goods-in, faster release into production.

  • Each lot tested against the product specification before dispatch
  • Batch test data supplied with every shipment
  • Safety Data Sheets for every product
  • Samples with test data, so you compare like with like
  • A technical team to talk through results, grades and applications

Checks on a typical batch record

The exact parameters follow each product's specification — these are the checks buyers ask about most.

Appearance
Physical form and colour against the reference.
Assay / purity
Content of the main component — drives yield and shade.
Moisture
Affects weighing accuracy and how an amine diazotises.
Melting / setting point
A quick indicator of purity for solids.
Insoluble matter
Residue that can cause specks or filtration issues.
Free SO₃ content
The strength figure for oleum grades.
Getting started

How to order

Start with a sample, move to scheduled supply. Four steps, start to finish.

  1. Step 1 of 4

    Choose a product

Browse the product directory or send the chemical name, CAS number or specification you work to.

  2. Step 2 of 4

    Share your requirement

Tell us the grade, quantity, packing and delivery location.

  3. Step 3 of 4

    Evaluate a sample

We send a sample with its test data to trial in your own process.

  4. Step 4 of 4

    Confirm supply

Once the sample clears trial, we schedule supply to the same spec, lot after lot.

Safety

Packing, storage & safe handling

Many intermediates and process chemicals are reactive, toxic or sensitive to air and moisture. Each is packed to suit what it is, with what your team needs to store and use it safely.

How products are supplied

  • Powders and crystals are packed to keep moisture out
  • Liquid amines are kept in closed containers that limit air contact
  • Fuming and corrosive acids go in acid-resistant containers
  • Every pack is labelled with product, lot and hazard information

Storing & handling on site

  • Store cool, dry and well-ventilated, away from direct sunlight
  • Keep containers tightly closed; many amines darken on exposure
  • Keep oleum and chlorosulfonic/nitrosylsulfuric acids away from water
  • Handle Dimethyl/Diethyl Sulfate in closed systems only

Who should handle what

  • Only trained staff, with the protective equipment the SDS specifies
  • Avoid skin contact with aromatic amines and nitro compounds
  • Keep acids, oxidisers and amines segregated in storage

Read the Safety Data Sheet before first use. It sets out protective equipment, storage conditions, first-aid measures and spill response. If anything is unclear, ask our technical team.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to what buyers, chemists and plant teams ask us most. For anything else, get in touch.

What does Chelora Dyes supply?

Pigment intermediates, amine intermediates, nitro/chlorinated benzenes and the process chemicals used to turn them into colour — one supplier across the full route.

Is Chelora Dyes a manufacturer or a supplier?

A supplier. We source, test every lot in-house and ship with documentation, so you deal with one point of contact for your whole colour route.

What's the difference between a dye and a pigment intermediate?

Dye intermediates become dyes, which dissolve into the fibre. Pigment intermediates become pigments, which stay as insoluble particles dispersed in ink, paint or plastic. Many amines can serve either route.

Can I get a sample before a bulk order?

Yes — request one with the product name, grade and how you'll evaluate it. Samples ship with test data so you can compare directly against what you use today.

What documentation comes with each shipment?

A batch test report and a Safety Data Sheet. Technical data and spec sheets are available on request.

How do you keep batch-to-batch quality consistent?

Every lot is tested in-house against spec before dispatch — appearance, assay, moisture, melting point and insoluble matter, depending on the product.

Can you match a specific grade or specification?

Share the spec you work to and our technical team will confirm whether it can be met, and suggest a sample for trial.

How do I choose between Oleum 23% and 65%?

The percentage is free SO₃ content. 65% is the stronger sulfonating agent; 23% fumes less and suits milder reactions. Your chemistry decides which fits.

How are hazardous chemicals packed and handled?

In containers suited to their hazard profile, labelled and supplied with an SDS. On site, store closed in a dry, ventilated area and let only trained staff handle them.

How do I ask for a quote?

Get in touch with the product name, grade, quantity, preferred packing and delivery location — the more detail, the faster the quote.

Tell us the product, grade and quantity you need

Our technical team will come back with a specification and a sample plan — whether it's Ortho Toluidine for a dye route, 4B Acid for an ink pigment, or Oleum for sulfonation.
